Finance Committee · Meeting of September 10, 2026
WALPOLE — Finance Committee backed $7.07 million in capital spending and three union contracts, while schools pressed a $1.2 million HVAC request. The 10 members present voted 10-0-0 on Article 7, $2,330,000 in water and sewer borrowing under Article 8, and Clerical, Library and Police contracts under Article 5. School Committee Chair Adrienne Rogers said the $1.2 million request was "not new" but sought no vote that night; the capital plan includes $300,000.
Town Administrator Jim Johnson said he felt "completely blindsided." Members asked the school department for a building-by-building HVAC plan to present after Fall Town Meeting. Police COLAs are 4, 3 and 2 percent.
