Select Board · Meeting of August 11, 2026

WALPOLE — The Walpole Select Board voted to designate the town an official Purple Heart Community and raised planned water main borrowing to $1.5 million. Clerk Mark Gallivan and Benjamin Barrett moved and seconded the Purple Heart measure, which passed 4-0. Town Administrator James Johnson had recommended $1 million for water main work, but Vice Chair Glenn Maffei cited a 10-year trailing average near $1.5 million and said "at $1 million, I think we're underfunding it." Barrett said water rates "directly control what's on this list and how quickly our water mains get replaced." The board also awarded a $156,560 well-treatment bid to Weston & Sampson CMR, Inc., closed the nine-article 2026 Fall Town Meeting warrant, and approved its consent agenda, all 4-0, with member James O'Neil absent.
