School Committee approves three field trips

School Board · Meeting of September 17, 2026

Walpole School Committee opens the year with three field trips, a rebuilt high school wing. Members unanimously approved out-of-state trips to Quebec City (eighth grade), Adams Farm in Cumberland, Rhode Island (Fisher kindergarten) and Sicily, Italy (high school, with the Paglia Institute). Assistant Superintendent Hahn reported district enrollment at 3,693 students, still fluid ahead of the state's October 1 count.

Walpole Middle School opened with 920 students and 129 staff; the four elementary schools enrolled 1,676 students combined. The high school's summer construction added a Welcome and Engagement Center, HVAC in the Math Wing, and reconfigured parking, with the principal calling it "something much bigger, a school that is more welcoming." The committee also approved Student Activity Fund balances, 4-0, and warrants, 4-0, after the chair left early for back-to-school night.
