Planning Board grants two hearing continuances

Planning Board · Meeting of October 1, 2026

Walpole Planning Board pushes two major hearings into 2027 amid aquifer and conservation concerns. Chair John Conroy's board voted unanimously to continue a case on 741-745 Main Street, the former Country Kitchen site, to December 3 with the town's decision deadline extended through January 31, 2027, after the Conservation Commission flagged "substantial changes" to the plans. A second hearing, on a special permit and site plan for 2160 Providence Highway inside the town's Aquifer Protection District, was continued to October 15 after the board granted an extension through October 30.

"If they comply with what's in the bylaw, we have no choice because they've complied," Conroy told residents pressing the board to block the project. Separately, applicant James McGrath's roughly $6,000 in remaining bond work on Cove Point Way drew board scrutiny, and the board endorsed Lincoln Road subdivision plans after an October 1 engineer's letter confirmed compliance.
