ZBA grants six-vehicle garage permit at 16 Main St
Walpole's Zoning Board of Appeals approved a six-vehicle special permit at 16 Main Street despite neighbors' runoff worries.
Zoning Board · Meeting of June 15, 2026
Walpole's Zoning Board of Appeals approved a six-vehicle special permit at 16 Main Street despite neighbors' runoff worries. The board voted 4-1 Monday to let applicant Michael Downey garage or maintain six vehicles, two more than the bylaw allows, with a planned 36-by-40-foot four-car garage joining his two-car garage. Conditions require roof drainage to go to on-site dry wells and bar commercial activity, vehicle sales, repairs and signage.
Community & Economic Development Director Patrick Deschenes said the board had previously approved one similar request, denied one and seen one withdrawn. Countryside Lane abutter Dave McKinnon said his backyard is "almost unusable when it rains." Downey still faces Conservation Commission review because the work lies within 100 feet of wetlands.
