Walpole Sewer Board Votes to Sue Over Article 13
Other Committee · Meeting of May 11, 2026
Walpole's elected sewer and water board votes 4-1 to sue over its own abolition. Chairman Pradeep Mishra and commissioners Patrick Fasanillo, John Hesninger and William Hamilton authorized hiring outside counsel to challenge Article 13, which passed the May 4 town meeting 69-55 and would replace the elected board with an appointed advisory panel; Commissioner William Lord dissented. The board also voted 4-1 to send protest letters to state legislators and Gov.
Maura Healey and to ask the town moderator to review the Finance Committee's conduct, after Mishra alleged the committee violated open meeting and conflict-of-interest laws by voting 11-1-2 on a petition some of its own sponsors backed. "My election was contested, and I won fair and square with the support of the voters," Mishra said. The water fund has already collected $6.8 million against a $6.5 million budget.
