WALPOLE — The Walpole Planning Board approved a revised Union Street site plan and continued a contentious fence-business hearing on Pine Street. Members voted 4-1 to approve Site Plan 2026-6 for 112 Union Street, requiring a boundary fence before construction begins; engineer Rob Truax said the applicant's separate 40B "safe harbor" appeal remained pending before the state Executive Office of Housing. On 2160 Boston Providence Highway, engineer John Glosso presented five truck-restriction conditions for a new Pine Street access road, but Police Chief Richard Keller's October 13 letter opposed the route, citing the town's 2.5-ton truck exclusion adopted 5-0 by the Select Board in March 2024.
Neighbors, including Brookside Village board member Robert Atwood, said "I would be very disappointed" if the town allowed trailer trucks onto a road meant to exclude them, and residents cited safety risks for 40 to 50 children at a nearby school bus stop. The board granted a decision extension to November 30 and continued the hearing to November 5.
