Water Board Vote Splits 4-1 as Commissioner Exits
Other Committee · Meeting of March 9, 2026
Walpole water board splits 4-1 as a commissioner walks out mid-meeting. The Board of Sewer and Water Commissioners approved its February 9 minutes by a 4-1 vote, with Commissioner William Hamilton opposed, before Hamilton demanded a motion to "reorganize" the board's leadership. Told the panel would follow its posted agenda, Hamilton said, "If we're not going to reorganize, I'm going to leave the meeting," and exited.
Deputy Superintendent Scott Gustafson had just reported that "the Washington floor is being cleaned and redeveloped," with that work continuing through the week. Commissioners noted Hamilton had been told after the February meeting to submit any proposed motions through the board secretary for a future agenda, but had not done so. The board moved to adjourn shortly after Hamilton left.
